Back to my roots I go

Raleigh North Carolina has a lot to offer that most people would be stunned to know. For 18 years I lived in the heart of the city and did not appreciate its inward beauty until I moved to Greenville North Carolina for 3 years. Now that I am moving back, next month, I am hoping to get back in touch with its roots and find hidden little secret spots that prove Raleigh's downtown life can accommodate all ages--from the single life, to college life, and even family life.

My recent visit at home, while apartment shopping, I found a cheap, quality hot spot if you're in the mood for a juicy burger and a local brewed beer, I highly recommend checking out Mojoe's Burger Joint off of Glenwood Ave. My friend and I were stunned that not only were the burgers around 6 bucks, but when our food arrived, the quality of the burger itself were definitely up to standards.

I highly recommend The Blue's Burger, since of course that is what I ordered and have only experienced. But I also recommend the burger my friend ordered, The Inferno, only if you enjoy a kick to your burger. I seriously wish I had taken a photo of my meal to prove to you all to not be fooled by the price. Its a great place to catch up with an old friend or to even bring your pet along with while out for a stroll down Glenwood Avenue.

It indeed is one of Raleigh's hidden secrets, but there's plenty more to this whole in the wall place than what meets the eye.

After grabbing a bite to eat, my friend and I were stuck on what to do next since the sun had already set. We got a suggestion off the streets to check out the new and improved hookah bar just a few doors down. I will honestly say I was a little skeptical at first since being my first time to a hookah bar, but I will admit, this was the most fun Ive had in a long long time. If you know anything about smoking out of a hookah, in which I do not, we purchased a flavor called Blue Mist (highly recommend) and it lasted for a good 3 hours. You're surrounded by students studying, Heritages collaborating, and friends catching up on the latest gossip. We were there for a total of 4 hours and time sure did fly. The owners previously new my friend, therefore we were treated with kindness and like royalty. If you're not into hookah's themselves, I still recommend you try their Cafe. We were able to sample (big samples) of both their hot and cold teas.
They've even apparently added yummy treats that looked
absolutely delicious
and homemade. So if you're looking for a quiet evening to yourself or to calmly catch up with your friends, Sahara Cafe off of Peace Street in downtown Raleigh is the way to go.

All of these hot spots were found on just a simple Thursday night...imagine if I went out exploring during a social week. Stay tuned for what I discover next!
